Ellu, Black Sesame seeds
Ellu or Sesame seeds are believed to be the oldest condiment known to man. It has a delicate nutty flavour which adds almost invisible crunchiness to many of the Asian dishes. Sesame oil or Ellenna is also known to be the highly valued oil for its exceptionally resistant to rancidity. Not only are sesame seeds an excellent source of copper and a very good source of manganese, but they are also a good source of calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin B1, zinc, molybdenum, selenium, and dietary fibre.
