How much puttu each packet gives :-
- 500 gm packet gives 2 to 2.5 kuti puttu
- 1 kg packet gives 4 to 5 kuti puttu
- (Kuti is the colloquial term for the Puttu
maker)
How
to Cook :-
- Take the required amount of puttupodi in a
bowl. Add a pinch of salt for taste. Pour little mildly warm water into
the powder and knead till all of it is evenly moist. Set aside for 15
minutes for the mixture to be soft.
- Fill the puttumaker pot or cooker half filled
with water over the flame. Place the puttu maker over the steam knob. Add
a small amount of grated coconut into the puttu maker or puttu kutti. Add
the moist puttu podi or powder into the puttu maker. Grated coconut can be
again added and repeat till the puttu maker is full. Close with the cap
available.
- Steam till there is a continuous flow of steam
coming from the top of the puttu maker. The puttu will now be cooked and
ready to serve.
How
to Serve :-
Can be had with milk, sugar, chana or kadala curry,
green peas masala or ripe banana.
